Web Site Design Dos and Don’ts
By James A. Martin
Online video. User-generated content. Virtual assistants. Search engine optimization. Mobile phone accessibility. If you feel like the bar for an effective e-commerce site keeps getting raised, you’re not alone.
E-tailers have more options than ever for gussying up their sites, said Kim Tyburski, owner/chief designer of skyhand design, a Seattle-based firm that creates Web sites (including e-commerce) for small businesses. Nonetheless, Tyburski believes the basics for a successful e-commerce site haven’t changed: Keep it simple, clean and well-organized. Tyburski offers dos and don’ts for maintaining a strong e-commerce presence on the increasingly sophisticated Web.
New way doing business with eBay’s new affiliate program
Clicking with eBay’s New Affiliate Program
By Vangie Beal
Officially launched on April 1, the eBay Partner Network picks up the eBay affiliate program where Commission Junction (CJ) left off. Well, technically, where eBay left off since the company has decided to move its global affiliate program from CJ to its own in-house program. For those moving to the eBay Partner Network from the eBay Affiliate program on Commission Junction, it’s important to note that your affiliate account from CJ is not automatically migrated over to eBay’s new in-house program. Affiliates must first register on the eBay Partner Network and be accepted into the program.
Start Your Online Business Step 5: Upload Your Product To Your Web Hosting
This is the reason you need web hosting and a domain name. You need the hosting to upload the mini site and sales letter that comes with the resell rights you just bought, and the domain name will be the web address to your new website.
Once you get your hands on resell rights to a product you want to sell, the next step is to edit the sales letter with your payment processor details, and upload the sales letter and product to your web host.
Here’s how to upload your product on your web host, so that your customers can download it, after they pay:
• Sign in to your web hosting account’s control panel. In most cases it is at: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel
• Click on “File Manager”
• Click on the folder to the left of “public_html”
• Click on “Upload Files”
• Browse to the file you want to upload (the ebook you will be selling)
• Click on “Upload files”
• Now your file is on your website at http://www.yourdomain.com/filename
• Optional step: If you want to place your files in a folder rather than at the root of your website (public_html) then you would create another folder and click to the left of that folder and upload the files in there. Your download link will then be:
http://www.yourdomain.com/foldername/filename
That is the link you will be sending your customer.
Tip: Choose a difficult to predict name for your file name and keep track of them in an excel spreadsheet or wherever you feel comfortable doing so.
As soon as you make a sale, send your customer a thank you e-mail with the link to download his/her product (file in this case).
You are done
Start raking in profits!
